South Boston, Va. — The Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center, a Taylor Hospitality managed property, is delighted to announce the hiring of a new executive chef, Darren Lee. Chef Lee brings over 24 years of top-notch culinary experience to his new post. Having worked in such positions as executive chef, culinary instructor, and his previous experience as a private business owner, he understands what it takes to keep the resort’s food and beverage operations running smoothly and to provide unbeatable customer service.
“We are pleased to bring Chef Lee onboard,” explains Steven Ouellette, general manager at Berry Hill Resort. “His career experience allows him to bring the wisdom and foresight we need to take our next step in the resurgence of Berry Hill.”
Chef Lee holds an Advanced Studies Degree in Culinary Arts with a concentration in Business Management from Johnson and Wales. Over the last 24 years, he has worked at Oakwood Country Club, Chatmoss Country Club, Department of Labor, and most recently at Peaks of Otter Inn.
In addition to his education and experience, Chef Lee is an active advocate for the Farm to Table movement, and has won several awards including Upcoming Chef in Bedford/SML. He also holds a Foods Safety Administration Manager certification, as well as a ServSafe certification from the National Restaurant Association.
